Boys Town Tapped for New Augmented Technology Program

Mid-Atlantic Region President Harris T. Bock, Esq. Visits Campus
Harris T. Bock, Esq., (center in white) president of the Mid-Atlantic Region board was a recent visitor to the campus. Bock and his family saw a full array of summer activities, including enrichment classes for Ethiopian olim and top achieving ninth graders, an educational and recreational day camp for seventh and eighth graders, and orientation courses for incoming students in the junior high and high schools. Miracle Baby Celebrates His Bar Mitzvah
The hearts of hundreds of onlookers skipped a beat as David Naftali was called to the Torah for his Bar Mitzvah in late September. Thirteen years earlier, David was born with a heart defect so severe that he was given less than a week to live. But a miracle was set in motion, thanks to the intervention of Rabbi Alexander Linchner, z”l, founder of Boys Town Jerusalem. Full Story

The evening was organized by Barbara and Dennis Amoils. Florida Friends are busy discussing plans for their next Dor L’Dor Society events.

Alaska Bar Mitzvah Celebration for BTJ Family Proving that Boys Town's "family" can be found everywhere, longtime supporters Don and Lee Weintraub of Sarasota, Florida, recently celebrated the bar mitzvah of their grandson Dylan at the Lubavitch Jewish Center of Anchorage, Alaska.
Frank & Cookie Billitz of Baltimore celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past June at a brunch for over 200 guests at Baltimore's Liberty Jewish Center. To commemorate this milestone occasion, the Billitzs are sponsoring the writing of a new Sefer Torah that will be presented to Boys Town Jerusalem upon its completion. Taking part in the Torah Writing ceremony was local scribe Rabbi Moshe Rappaport and Boys Town's Maryland Friends Director Rabbi David E. Herman.
Robert and Kathleen Kaswell, New York City, Dedicate New Multi-purpose Sports Fields at BTJ
Robert M. & Malka Beren, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Wichita, KS, Dedicate New Multi-purpose Sports Field
NASA Scientist Gerald Wittenstein of Huntsville, AL, was a recent visitor to BTJ. He recounted his experiences working with the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Skylab programs and how he has been able to successfully balance work with his religious observance.
BTJ Board Secretary Marjorie Diener Blenden recently visited the school for a very special purpose. Her late parents, Leonard and Beatrice Diener, dedicated the Beatrice and Leonard Diener Torah & Science Academy, and Marjorie was in Israel to sign diplomas for this year's graduates of the program.
The Jewish Journal (S. Florida) showed their support for Boys Town Jerusalem by donating 10% of the ad revenue from their commemorative 60th Anniversary issue, totalling over $5,000, at a special presentation prior to the SE Regional Board of Directors meeting hosted by SE Regional President Alex Halberstein on May 5th.

The 2008 Harry Levin-Sam Rabinowitz Memorial Golf Outing at Manufacturers' Golf & Country Club in Ft. Washington, PA was a hit! A sold-out field of 128 golfers enjoyed a fun day at one of the Philadelphia area's most spectacular courses, raising over $100,000 for "our boys".

Armin Weiss Honored at Delray Beach Orthodox Synagogue
Longtime BTJ supporter Armin Weiss was recognized for his many years of dedicated service to "his boys" at a February breakfast in his honor at Delray Beach Orthodox Synagogue, where he was presented with Boys Town's prestigious Gates of Jerusalem Award.
Boys Town graduate Rony Avivi Visits American and Canadian Friends.
The American and Canadian Friends welcomed BTJ graduate Rony Avivi during a recent visit. Rony met with friends and supporters in Toronto, Philadelphia and South Florida to speak about his years at the school and the impact BTJ had, and continues to have, on his life.
South Florida welcomes BTJ student Rami Treistman
The Southeast Region enjoyed a fun evening with BTJ student Rami Treistman. Rami, working as a camp counsellor in the Miami area for the summer, joined local Board members and supporters for an informative and entertaining evening.
2007 Harry Levin-Sam Rabinowitz Memorial Golf Outing
The Mid-Atlantic Region held its 16th annual golf outing on June 5. 120 golfers, a full, sold-out field, tested themselves at the magnificent RiverCrest Golf Club & Preserve in Phoenixville, PA.
